We are developing an application that requires that we support different "art decorating" effects. Specifically, this is to make an image look like it is printed on an item, either with a printing technique or with embroidery (stitching) such as on a hat. The effects we are trying to support are:

Emboss
Deboss
Embroidery
Foil Stamping
Laser Engraving

Any thoughts on how we may be able to create these? There is info on the web on how to create these effects using PhotoShop, but we haven’t really been able to translate this into ImageEn.

Some examples (for how to create these in photoshop):

Emboss/Deboss: http://www.companyfolders.com/blog/tutorial-create-a-realistic-emboss-deboss-effect-in-photoshop

Embroidery: http://www.psd-dude.com/tutorials/sewing-embroidery-effect-in-photoshop.aspx

Foil Stamping: http://graphicdesign.stackexchange.com/questions/16958/how-to-reproduce-a-stamped-type-effect-in-photoshop

Laser Engraving in Photoshop: http://graphicdesign.stackexchange.com/questions/39012/how-to-achieve-a-metal-engraving-effect-in-adobe-illustrator-cc

Would Xeqqute or anyone else be interested in programming these effects for us? We would be able to pay a reasonable amount to have them created so we can use them in this application.

Hi

We will consider Emboss/Deboss in a future version.

Thank you Nigel. That would be great if emboss and deboss were added to the standard ImageEn. I understand on the other ones. If anyone is skilled in building filters that would like to do this custom work, please let me know. Thank you!

Hi Eric

I think of these, the most relevant to the general ImageEn community would be Emboss/Deboss. We'll add it to our to-do list for a coming update.

Embroidery, engraving and other such effects are probably too specialist a requirement for us to implement (and we don't usually do custom work unless it benefits ImageEn).

Perhaps other users might be interested in some custom dev work???

Hi EricNat,

You could always take a look at these filters. I am sure they could be a starting point even if they are in java.
