Firemonkey has improved greatly since Rad Studio XE2. With the recent release of Rad Studio 10.2, I am ready to move everything possible to Firemonkey since it provides additional capability I need and allows my applications to work on all platforms.

The areas which have delayed my conversion to Firemonkey are imaging, richedit, and scanning. I now have FMX alternatives except for scanning.

It is now very important to me that Firemonkey support be added to ImageEn as soon as possible. I am adding scanner support to my applications using ImageEn and expect to have everything working within a week.

I am faced with these choices.

1) I can stick with ImageEn and delay conversion to Firemonkey.
2) I can convert to my ImageEn display alternative and move ImageEn scan functionality to a separate application. But this probably would not work since I want scanner control from inside my applications.
3) I can abandon ImageEn and find an alternative for scanning. I already have an alternative for image display though I prefer ImageEn.
4) A Firemonkey compatible version of ImageEn becomes available.

I very much prefer choice 4 followed by 3. I don't see choices 1 or 2 as realistic solutions. I will need to decide before I complete implementation of my scanning module.

Is it possible for you to provide a Firemonkey solution and if so, when do you think it might be available?

Thanks, Sidney

Hi Sidney

FMX support is something we are interested in, but it will a huge job, so realistically not something we will see in the short term.
