On slower machines I experience an error when my scan-form is opened. In the constructor I do an TWainParams.Update which fails. If I continue through the messages and try to scan, it works fine.

My own machine doesn't have this problem so I assume some form of scan-component initialisation is done, perhaps threadded. If this is true, how can I stall the form until it's ready?

I use the second to newest version of the component package

Have you confirmed this by delaying TwainParams.Update until after the form is ready, e.g. using FormShow or a postmessage?
