ImageEn successfully reads maker notes for a sample of Nikon .jpg files that I downloaded from the internet, but my neighbor's new Nikon D5200 is reported as data.size = 0 as is a Nikon Coolpix AW100. Again, CCR-Exif reads the Nikon 5200 and Coolpix maker notes. In fact, ImageEn varies in its ability to read Nikon maker notes. CCR-Exif reports that some are Intel (small endian) and some are Motorola(big endian). ImageEn fails with all of the small endian files but also fails with one of the big endian files.
