Hi Uwe
Do you understand the process? I tried following the steps described as:
- Import RAW files to Lightroom, adjust exposure and white balance
- If an image has too broad of dynamic range, I under expose and make a virtual copy that is brighter. I blend the two in PS using layer masks (Google) by hand, using a Wacom Intuous tablet
- I increase micro contrast on a duplicate layer with the Unsharp Mask Tool, Amount: 20%, Radius: 50px, and decrease layer opacity to taste
- Topical shadow lighting using curves masks
- Increased color saturation iwth Velvia action
- Blemish correction with healing brush
Using similar methods in ImageEn and the image looked like a dog's breakfast. Clearly I missed something...

Hi Nigel,
Try to import a RAW file into Lightroom, open it in the Develop module, go to Basic -> Presence -> Clarity, and move the slider to see what happens. What the Clarity filter actually does is to increase the apparent sharpness of photos by changing the local contrast in an image. The overall brightness and contrast does not change much, but there is a big difference at the detail level.
Rawtherapee has this implemented since 2011, as far as I know.

Hi Uwe
A very similar effect is already available by using unsharp mask with a very large Radius and low Amount. For example:
imageenview1.proc.UnsharpMask( 15, 0.5 );

Hello Uwe, ImageEn has also Wallis filter (you can make a search in internet to know more about it), which could be used for such tasks. I have recently discovered it.
