AutoCAD DWG files are very complex vector files and reading of this format is not a trivial task. So i'm sure, DWG support will never come in ImageEN.
For DWG reading i use the tools from Open Design Alliance: http://www.opendwg.org/

The name of the Toolkit to read/write DWG files is "Teigha". For using it you must join the Open Design Alliance Membership.
But for now it's the only toolkit with full read/write access to all DWG versions imho.
